High school was a good time for my art. High School itself was no carnival. But that particular period of time was when my art improved at a far more accelerated pace than it has since. It is comforting to know that I AM better now than I was then, but I can't help but wonder where I'd be now had I continued to grow at that rate up until the present.
So, sometimes I wonder if I should remove some of that earlier stuff from my gallery, as it is hardly representative of my current work. Should I use Deviant Art as a document of my growth over the last ten years? Or are my portfolios of drawings in my house enough, available for viewing if anyone has the notion to ask (or if I'm in the mood to force my moldy oldies upon them.
I do like to save my old stuff, though. Even if the work itself doesn't look as good as it could, it is nice to have a record of past ideas. I think some artists might fall into the trap of revisiting their own work a little too often, constantly refining a single image or two, rather than expanding the breadth of what they draw. I know I tend to draw the same sorts of things.
Looking back on my old stuff, though... I can see that there are some ideas that are definitely worth reworking.
